Get ready for this, Minnesota! Irish Fair of Minnesota, the Celtic Junction, and the Consulate General of Ireland in Chicago are pleased to present programming to recognize the historic 100th anniversary of the Easter Rising, along with other Irish organizations in the Twin Cities. Modeled after the successful decades-long Arts weeks in Ireland (Kilkenny, Galway, Kinsale, Westport, etc.) this inaugural Saint Paul Arts Week commemorates through multiple events and performances arguably the most important event in modern Irish history. On Easter Monday, April 24, 1916, Irish rebels defied British authority and proclaimed an independent Irish republic. All of the signatories of the proclamation were executed, but the movement towards Irish independence was unstoppable. Many activities are scheduled beginning April 15.
