Patriots, Loyalists & Redcoats
| This Saturday, Oct 17 – A virtual-only webinar on Zoom Patriots, Loyalists, & Redcoats: How the Irish Shaped the Revolutionary War Presented by genealogist & military historian Michael Strauss from Pennsylvania. The roles of the Irish during the war were wide-ranging and complex. Many Ulster Scots-Irish settlers rallied to the patriot cause and fought for independence. Some Irish remained loyal to the crown, drawn by economic ties and imperial identity, and served in a variety of provincial military units. Yet other Irish-born soldiers served in the British Army. These perspectives together reveal the Revolutionary War as a transatlantic story of Irish identities, migrations, and loyalties that helped to shape the character of the colonies and the revolution. 10:30 am - noon CDT (UTC-5) Audience level: all $15 for IGSI members $20 for non-members Register here: igsi.regfox.com/igsi-virtual-webinar-2026-jan |
