July 2026 Podcast
In the July episode of the “This month at the IGSI” podcast (episode 1 of season 5), genealogist Dave Miller talks about all the events scheduled for the month of July with the IGSI.
This month's Irish Saturday will be held on July 11 at the Hoffman Research library, which is located at the Minnesota Genealogy Center in Mendota Heights. If you’re in the area and have a genealogy question regarding your Irish research, stop by.
The July webinar will be with Brian Gurrin. Brian’s program is titled “The Virtual Record Treasury of Ireland.” This program will be an online-only session. It is scheduled for Saturday, July 18, and will run from 10:30 AM until Noon (CDT). The fee to watch this webinar is $15 for members and $20 for non-members.
Virtual Record Treasury of Ireland (VRTI) is an all-island and international research partnership hosted by Trinity College Dublin. This is an effort to reconstruct the Public Record Office of Ireland--a magnificent archive destroyed in 1922 at the outset of the Irish Civil War. VRTI is an ever-growing, open-access resource, freely and permanently available online to any researcher interested in Ireland’s deep history, at home and abroad.
Our Social gaggle for the month, on Monday, July 20, will last an hour and a half and is available on zoom. It is open to all and there is no registration.
Dave recently spoke to Christian Dupont, an Associate University Librarian for Scholarly Resources and Burns Librarian at Boston College, regarding the 1926 Irish Census Exhibit at Burns Library through the summer. Christian also provided Dave with an online tour of the exhibit and talked in detail how important the 1926 Irish Census was for the Irish and how important it still is today!
