Cleaning house at the blog

Cleaning house at the blog

IGSI has been working toward conversion to a new website. While no definite implementation date has been set, one of the steps along the way is to remove outdated blog postings.

The IGSI blog made its debut on July 19, 2011. Since that time, 2177 postings have occurred. Do they all still carry valuable information? NO WAY!

As we began a manual review of postings dated before 2023, we identified much info regarding years-ago classes, conferences, publications, webinars, and Irish Saturdays at the library. Over time the blog regularly shared announcements about special discounts and "free stuff," all now long-expired. It's definitely time for some clean-up activity.

The walk down memory lane is both entertaining and poignant. Many postings remind us of the Celtic Connections Conferences that IGSI co-sponsored with The Irish Ancestral Research Association (TIARA) in 2014, 2016, 2018, 2020.

2020! Remember Covid? Lots of blurbs about cancellations, rescheduled events, mask policies, virtual meetings, and changes in library hours. No point  in taking those historical items into 2026 and beyond.

As the review continues, watch for occasional re-postings about facts or resources that may have been forgotten but are still useful.
