When I shared positive reviews a couple months ago about the movie "Brooklyn," I certainly didn't anticipate it would be among Oscar nominees for Best Picture. But it is. Pretty cool for a movie about a mid-20th century Irish immigrant! Here's the Wikipedia.org description of the movie plot: "An Irish immigrant (Saoirse Ronan) in 1950s New York falls for a tough Italian plumber (Emory Cohen), but faces temptation from another man (Domhnall Gleeson) when she returns to her homeland for a visit." In addition to its nomination for Best Picture, the film was nominated for best Adapted Screenplay, and Ronan was nominated for Best Actress. Watch for it to return to your neighborhood theater before the February 28th Oscar show. Here's a link to our earlier posting about the movie: http://blog.irishgenealogical.org/?p=4896.
