52 Ancestors

52 Ancestors

In other years, by this time in January, my New Year's resolutions are only a memory. However, I've just read an intriguing blog, "No Story Too Small; Life is Made of Stories." This may be the year for a family history resolution!  Blog-writer Amy Johnson Crow issued a challenge for 2014: write a story each week about an ancestor. That would be 52 ancestors in 52 weeks!

While it may be too late (not to mention daunting) to resolve to write a story each week , there's plenty of time left to write a story each month. Or a story every quarter. My challenge to you is "start writing." Record what you know about your family history. Write about old family photos. Share what you've written with someone. You don't necessarily have to publish your story on a blog. Begin a collection of your stories, on a thumb-drive or printed in a binder. Read stories written by others. Keep writing. This is the year to begin. You can read more about Amy's challenge here: http://www.nostorytoosmall.com/
