If your ancestors lived in New York City, you'll want to read this!  "Location, location, location" is the mantra of realtors and genealogists. Understanding the location you're researching is key to finding what you seek. "A History of the Geography of NYC," a super-valuable article by Joel D Weintraub, can be found on Steve Morse's website and was recently brought to our attention by Dick Eastman's blog. There are so many good things on Morse's "one-step portal" that it's easy to miss a diamond hidden there. You can access Weintraub's article as a PDF, DOC, or HTML at http://stevemorse.org/census/location.htm Eastman's posting on the subject can be read at http://blog.eogn.com/2015/07/30/a-history-of-the-geography-of-nyc-by-joel-weintraub/#more-8544
