Changes coming to PERSI
The Periodical Source Index, or PERSI, is an under-used source for family history research. The following introduction to PERSI, along with more details, come from the FamilySearch Wiki:
"The Periodical Source Index, or PERSI, is the largest subject index to genealogy and local history periodical articles in the world. Created by the staff of the Allen County Public Library Foundation and the ACPL's Genealogy Center, PERSI is widely recognized as a vital tool for genealogical researchers..."
The PERSI project began in 1986. Over the years the index has been hosted by Ancestry and MyHeritage, and it's currently available through Findmypast. The index list is free; however to see online images, one needs a subscription or purchase pay-per-view credits.
PERSI is headed back to the Allen County Public Library! The move isn't complete, but we encourage you to take an advance look at the ACPL Genealogy Center website. While there, you can view the Genealogy Center's recorded programs on the library's YouTube channel. Watch for more developments about PERSI.
