The Tuke Irish in Minnesota
One of the things she learned was that the Connemara immigrants with the Tuke scheme tended to live in Townland-like settlements on Phalen Creek in St. Paul, and did so for a number of decades. Donlon is developing a database of those St. Paul families which will provide Townland of origin information. The Tuke resettlement scheme was in response to the "little famine in Western Ireland." Lots more info on the podcast, including a discussion of a similar settlement in Scranton, PA.
