The Gallaghers and "The Bishop's Curse"

Having a few minutes to loiter at the computer this morning, I skimmed IrishCentral and found a great story about the Gallaghers of northern New York State. My husband's 2X great-grandmother was Ann Gallagher, born in Foxford, County Mayo, in 1804. The subject of the IrishCentral article was Richard Gallagher, born in 1817 in County Westmeath. Probably no relation to each other but an engaging article nonetheless.

Read about Richard Gallagher's dispute with the Catholic Church and how two of his descendants ultimately found each other:  www.irishcentral.com/roots/ancestry/The-search-for-an-ancestor-brings-two-Irish-Americans-together-PHOTOS.html Who doesn't dream of finding a book written about one's ancestor? That's what Kathi and Chris discovered when they read The Bishop's Curse by Raff Ellis. My hopes for a family connection were temporarily re-ignited when I read in their story about a great-aunt, "Mrs. T. A. Cummings of St. Paul, Minn." Kathi's well-researched Ancestry family tree extinguished my optimism about finding long-lost Gallagher cousins.
