Sullivans or Moynihans?

Sullivans or Moynihans?

This weekend was the opening of pheasant season in South Dakota. Needless to say - but I'll say it anyway - that means I was flushing/pointing/retrieving for our hunting party, in addition to being the camp cook. Not much time for genealogy but here's a follow-up to my recent posting about the FTDNA surname project. Attached to the message we received from the Hickey project administrator was a table (derived from FamilyFinder results) defining possible relationships. “Ian” was the closest, potentially Bill's  2nd-4th cousin, so I contacted him by email. Here’s Ian’s response: "I checked Gedmatch and we’re not related as Hickey as you don’t match known close cousins on that side. You match my mother’s father’s family in Rathmore, County Kerry, but not his paternal line. So I think the match is Sullivan or Moynihan from Kerry. Match any of your records?"

Oh my, I’d not discovered any Sullivans or Moynihans in Bill's family tree. Not yet anyway.
