Success stories

Breakthroughs in family history research come in big and little packages. I love sharing success stories here on the blog and have asked several folks to write about their progress. In the category of small-package breakthroughs comes a report from Fern: I am transcribing Irish marriage records for Family Search and the bride's name was "Wilhelmina" and my brain is skipping along to the surname, when if brains had brakes, mine would have screeched and I would have had whiplash! All of a sudden the name Mina flashed into my mind. Mina! My dad's aunt was Mina! From Wilhelmina! I NEVER connected the dots before. My g-g grandmother on my dad's side was Wilamina Dubberstein whom I have NO information about. So his aunt Mina was named for her maternal grandmother! So it looks like I have correct information from my great grandmother's death cert as that's where I got the info from. Don't we all feel her excitement at confirming a fact (i.e., connecting the dots)? I'd love to share your story. Send me an email at blog@irishgenealogical.org.
