"Small Sources" from Flyleaf Press

Over the past year, Jim Ryan of Flyleaf Press has been posting small/useful/free lists called "Small Sources." Ryan regularly encounters "little" records from account books or ledgers at the National Library of Ireland while conducting research for his Irish county guidebooks. Although these relatively short lists of names may not be significant enough to include in a book, Ryan recognizes their potential value to family history researchers and shares the information on the Flyleaf blog.

Here are Ryan's eleven (so far) Small Sources: Small Sources 1: Wingfield Estate (Co Wexford) Workers and Suppliers 1856 Small Sources 2: Tarbert (Co Kerry) schoolchildren 1809 Small Sources 3: Labourers in Shanagolden area (Co Limerick) 1808 Small Sources 4: Tenants of Quansbury Estate (Co Galway) 1777-1778 Small Sources 5: Labourers in Kilcavan Parish (Co Wexford) 1850 Small Sources 6: Tenants on Ram Estate, Gorey (Co Wexford) in 1826 Small Sources 7: Tenants of John's Hill, Waterford City 1831-1840 Small Sources 8: Sliebheena (Co Kerry) Petitioners 1828 Small Sources 9: LaTouche (Co Carlow) tenants writing to the Knight of Kerry 1856 Small Sources 10: Killinick and neighboring parishes (Co Wexford) poor list 1813-1820 Small Sources 11: Earl of Listowel (Co Kerry) tenants 1755 For details, check the Flyleaf publisher's blog at: http://www.flyleaf.ie/blog/.

Jim Ryan's work should also serve as a reminder for us to do an occasional google query on the names of parishes and townlands we're researching. New information is being posted all the time, from sources we'd never know existed.
