When looking for 20th century Irish relatives, IGSI encourages you to check the database of Irish merchant marine seamen active 1918-1921.  This online searchable database was prepared by David Snook and can be accessed at www.irishmariners.ie/

One can find details about 23,000 Irish-born and 1000 Canadian-born merchant seamen and their voyages, from early September 1918 until December 1921. The records come from the CR-10 cards held in the Southampton Civic Archives. Making this collection special, passport-style photographs are included for most of the seamen.
