Getting the most out of Surname Search

Yesterday I posted news about IGSI's "Surname Search" feature being re-launched. Perhaps, like me, you weren't able to pull up details about who was researching the surname in which you're interested? Our website guru, Bob Z, provided the following helpful instructions: To find specific surname information, enter the surname in the surname box; if you are searching for the surname in a specific Irish or US location, enter them in the appropriate boxes.  Then click apply.  This will bring up a display of all surnames that meet the criteria that you entered. If you wish to find out the specifics of a particular member, click on the Surname for that particular row.  Then you will see a display of the member, his/her name, address, and phone number (if he/she has entered a phone number), email address (if he/she has entered one), and all surnames that the member has listed. If you click on the member name, you will get a "not authorized" message. Remember, you have to be an IGSI member to access this data! And, admittedly, the member contact details might not be current. Join IGSI for happy hunting:  www.irishgenealogical.org/.
