John Grenham recently announced a major upgrade to the civil parish maps on his website, johngrenham.com.

"Candy-Crush color" indeed! The maps come alive! You can zoom in and out to find townlands easily, and the vivid colors are a delight. Pictured here is a screenprint of the central portion of County Tipperary.

Grehnham's July 14 blog posting explains why civil parishes have always been an important factor in Irish research. Then he goes on to describe how the latest enhancements came to be. Truly mesmerizing.

If your research takes you to Dublin, be sure to read to the end of his blog posting to learn about Dublin historic maps and a website John calls "Map-Nut Nirvana."
