Audrey's picks for research sites
We encourage our blog readers to submit research tips, stories, or ideas for articles. Today, IGSI president/volunteer researcher Audrey Leonard has shared recommendations for websites she's found valuable in completing research requests.
- Bill MacAfee's website (www.billmacafee.com/) - A research tool for Counties Londonderry and Antrim. MacAfee's homepage includes links in three categories: 1) Sources, 2) Databases, and 3) Administrative Divisions. Most of his records are sourced from PRONI, and many go back to the 17th century. Quite amazing what one man has compiled!
- EnglandsImmigrants (www.englandsimmigrants.com/) - A fully searchable database containing 64,000 names of people who migrated to England 1330-1550, the result of a research project conducted 2012-2015 by the National Archive in collaboration with two universities. Particularly useful if your ancestral lines go back to the U.K. while providing some fun and "deep historical and cultural context."
- One-Step Pages by Steve Morris (www.stevemorse.org/) - A unique site making it easier to research passenger lists, census and vital records, maps, etc. This site benefits all family history researchers and is another extraordinary example of what one brilliant man has created!
